I’ve struggled with easily falling asleep and staying asleep since high school. For me my biggest cause is stress. As I’ve gotten older (and stress got worse), I’ve also picked up bad habits along the way. These habits further caused me to struggle sleeping at night.

Some habits include either eating a late night snack or simply being on my phone before bed (I know most of us are guilty of this…). But a few months ago I started changing my routine. Instead of going to bed and being on Instagram or YouTube, I decided to start reading a book before bed again. Although it didn’t completely fix my struggles, it helped me unwind quite a bit and that helped more than anything.

After getting into this routine, I felt I needed something extra to further help me. I mean I was so tired I could barely get up in the mornings and I have to drive an hour and a half to work and THEN start working for the rest of the day. So I started looking around on my favourite online health shop, Faithful to Nature, to see if they had any herbal supplements to help me sleep better, or atleast be calmer at night. Lucky for me, they had a few options.

So I started looking around and comparing benefits and pricing and I stumbled upon the Flora Force Sleep Insomnia capsules. (I see the wording is a bit different than mine on the site but I bought mine in September).

Flora Force Sleep Capsules

According to the site it’s “a natural herbal remedy to help restore your natural sleeping patterns with a mild sedative and anti-depressant effect.”

Description

  • It further helps relieve insomnia
  • Helps soothe sleep disturbances caused by bloating, asthmatic problems, etc.
  • Helps calm restless leg syndrome
  • Only uses pure herbal powders

Directions & Dosage

According to the bottle and the site I had to take two capsules before bed.

My Thoughts

I finished this whole bottle before deciding to give my opinion since I obviously wanted to try all of it.

I know this isn’t some heavy sedative and it’s totally herbal and herbal supplements sometimes take longer to help. This whole journey on the pills I did not feel they helped me sleep better. I felt it helped me the first two nights and that was about it. I feel these would better help me stay calm during the day when there are stressful times at work. But as for calming me before bed…not a chance.

After a while I started using the Flora Force Sleep capsules while also taking an Allergex. This seemed to help a bit more as Allergex causes drowsiness. But I think if I just took the Allergex by itself it would have worked just as it did without adding the Flora Force Sleep pills.

I read some reviews on the products on the Faithful to Nature site and the capsules seemed to be working well for some people, but I unfortunately, did not benefit from it.

Have you ever tried a herbal supplement to help you sleep? If so, please let me know in the comments and maybe I can check if it works for me πŸ˜€

Lots of love,

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences with our Sleep capsules. I think you hit the nail on the head here. The same thing is not perfect for everyone. Our point of difference is that we specifically offer a product which excludes Valerian. *Some* people, like our Marketing Manager, Vera find Valerian much too strong a sedative and it was banned for a short while as an over-the counter herb in SA …being only available on prescription as is the case in the UK. (Luckily you can get it again otc if your wanted to try a different regime)
Pleased to see that you include good sleep hygiene like not taking your phone to bed. Here is one of the most bind blowing findings that I’ve ever come across about sleep disturbance and light pollution: a study that tracked the subject’s brainwaves while asleep noted a disturbance when a laser was shone on the BACK of their legs. You can’t even “see” is, but your body knows it is there! So don’t be scared to take the sleep hygiene thing to the max – heavy curtains, no electrical appliances in the same room at all. Some of the top athletes in the world who travel across time zones regularly swear by such measures.
Also, in case it is relevant, consider ditching coffee for a 3 week period. Just to check if that is perhaps playing a role.
    Sweet dreams!

    • Thanks so much for taking the time to give me some advice and more information! I definitely believe everyone has different reactions to supplements and so on. No person is the same!

I’m not much of a coffee drinker and as I already struggle with sleep, I don’t drink coffee at night. Hopefully one day I’ll find the supplement which is perfect for me and I’ll get a good night’s rest.

      Lots of love,
